Professor Dr Mohamad Hussain Habil

Professor Dr Mohamad Hussain Bin Habil started his career in 1984 with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, as a Medical Officer. He is advisor and member of the Depression Advisory Board Members for Asia Pacific Region, Advisor And Member, member of the International Editorial Board of the Journal of the Psychiatric Association of Thailand, serves on the editorial board of the Asia-Pacific Psychiatry, was President Elect of the ASEAN Federation of Psychiatry and Mental Health, member of the Psychiatry Medicine Works Committee KKM, past president of the Malaysian Psychiatric Association, and former Vice President of the Sleep Disorder Society Malaysia. Recent publications include books : Consensus Statement for the Treatment of Bipolar Disorder, and Depression : Causes and treatment as well as contributions to the Asean Journal of Psychiatry and Brain Research.

University of Malaya Centre of Addiction Sciences (UMCAS) is established in 2009 as a leading centre for addiction studies in Malaysia. Drug problem is a number one enemy of the country and become a national priority. There are increasing prevalence of drug use and HIV prevalence among intravenous drug users that warrants harm reduction approach. Yet, not many research been done locally to support for the good clinical practice in addiction treatment in Malaysia.
